Former Translation Student Turned Renewable Energy Specialist, Bridging Language & Sustainability
It feels like coming full circle when I received the offer for the MSc in Sustainable Global Business at CUHK and would soon be returning to my alma mater as a student. A career in the renewable energy industry is not a conventional path for a translation student, but life always takes interesting turns in places you don’t expect. |
When I applied for a position as a business specialist in a renewable energy company a few years ago, I actually knew very little about the industry. However, it turned out to be a much more interesting and meaningful industry than I had expected . Energy transition is a big topic nowadays, but it is also a matter that entangles many political and economic complexities. As the world moves towards a greener future, I hope that I can play my part in pushing things in the right direction. |
When I look back, my undergraduate study in translation at CUHK helped me in ways I did not expect. Translation is not just about language, it also empowers you with plenty of soft skills that you can apply across disciplines, such as the ability to communicate effectively, navigate complex situations and understand different perspectives. |
Big thanks to my professors and friends who supported me along the way! Their encouragement and guidance have been invaluable to me. As I step into a new chapter of life, I will carry the support with me, and hope to make the most out of what I have learnt from them. |
