[6-7, Jun. 2025] Harvard-Yenching Institute Alumni Workshop 2025
 
Topic: Translations of Sacred and Mystical Texts in Interfaith Dialogues
Date: June 6–7, 2025
 
This is an intellectually rich and globally engaged workshop that brings together scholars from Harvard, CUHK, Nankai, HKU, Loyola Chicago, Sun Yat-sen, and beyond to explore how sacred and mystical texts—from the Daodejing and the Yijing to Kabbalistic and Christian writings—have been translated, reinterpreted, and transformed across cultures and faiths.
 
Featuring presentations on:
• Jesuit Figurist encounters with Daoism and Kabbalah
• Inner alchemy texts in Western translation
• The Taiping Bible and its retranslation of Christian scripture
• Holy water, healing, and transnational Catholic spirituality
• Perennialist readings of the Daodejing
