Dongba script highlighted on UN's Chinese Language Day
| Professor Duncan Poupard spoke at the United Nations Chinese Language Day event, "Mysterious Dongba Script" on Wednesday 21 April. This event introduced Naxi dongba culture and their unique "pictographic" writing system, found primarily in and around the UNESCO World Heritage site of Lijiang in China's Yunnan Province. Professor Poupard explained to the audience basic Naxi "pictographic" characters and uncovered the stories underneath. Together with He Lijun, a native Naxi dongba practitioner, he also led the audience to learn Naxi dialogues. |
