Our PhD student Yan Caiping published a new article titled “Reinterpreting Inherited Values: Translating ‘The Virtuous Woman’ in A Woman’s Messenger (1912-1931)” in Foreign Language Studies.

In early republican China, women periodicals are pivotal for translators to advocate their ideas on gender issues. This article investigates the historical backdrop of Nv Duo and examines how these female translators inherited Confucian moral disciplines, proposing a role of "xiannv (the virtuous woman)" in their translations.
