Our Alumna, Rachel Chan, Will Work as a Medical Interpreter at Stanford Hospital
Hello! I’m Rachel from the class of 2021. The solid and thought-provoking training at CUHK, something I’m forever grateful for, inspired me to carve out a career as a professional interpreter. After obtaining the bachelor degree, I studied abroad in the U.S. at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies at Monterey (MIIS) and pursued an MA degree in Conference Interpreting. I’m also happy to share that I’ve won the second prize in the 11th International Translation and Interpreting Competition organized by Beijing Language and Culture University. As challenging and draining as this profession can be, I truly enjoy toiling away in the booths, bridging cultures and communities in this globalised world.

After graduation, I will be working at the Stanford Hospital as a medical interpreter. It gives me great pleasure and a sense of purpose to be able to assist patients in receiving quality healthcare. Meanwhile, I will continue to seek out conference interpreting opportunities. I’m excited to see what the future holds!
