A New Book by James St. André
Professor James St. André’s new book, Conceptualising China through Translation, is out with Manchester University Press. Warm congratulations!

This book examines how people have thought about and understood China throughout history by tracing the development of four key cultural terms (filial piety, face, fengshui, and guanxi) between English and Chinese. It explores how certain ideas about what makes Chinese culture unique can shape how people view China and their own identities.
