Journey of a thousand miles starts with a single step
| As the saying goes, “walk the talk”! To inspire students to pursue a career path in interpreting, Dr. Lily Li and Dr. Daisy Ng jointly brought fifteen undergraduate and postgraduate students from the Department of Translation to visit the Legislative Council (LegCo) on April 2. During the guided tour of the LegCo building, students learned about the history and functions of the HK Legislature, viewed the main chamber and took a glimpse at the simultaneous interpreting room (with SI in action) and the broadcasting room—this was the “walk” part—followed by the “talk” part: students are encouraged to listen to simultaneous interpreting broadcasts of LegCo meetings online afterwards or in person in future. |
