Congratulations to our students on winning Hong Kong Translation Society F. C. Lo Scholarship 2024

| “I am honoured to receive the Hong Kong Translation Society F. C. Lo Scholarship 2024. This prestigious scholarship fuelled my passion to pursue further studies in Translation. I had the privilege to meet Professor Jin Sheng Hwa Serena, who inspired us with her Luncheon Talk, sharing memorable moments and honouring the legacy of renowned translators. She also emphasised the irreplaceability of translations amid the era of AI for translators’ critical thinking and in-depth understanding of Translation Studies. Besides, I benefitted from chatting with other fellow scholarship recipients from different universities. Studying translation opens up fruitful and promising working opportunities. |

| “I was honored to attend the Hong Kong Translation Society (HKTS) 2024 Annual General Meeting, F.C. Lo Scholarships Presentation Ceremony and Luncheon Talk as one of the scholarship awardees. During the event, we had the utmost privilege to hear amazing stories from Professor JIN Sheng Hwa, Serena, and to learn about the importance of passing down the heritage of translation into future generations. |
| This award is a recognition of my dedication and hard work in my 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Language Studies and Translation at Hong Kong Metropolitan University. During my third year of Bachelor’s degree, I learnt about Fundamental Interpreting, and I was intrigued to learn more interpreting skills in the future. This builds up my path of studying Master’s degree at CUHK, where I can focus on learning both simultaneous and consecutive interpreting. |
| I believe I will continue to develop my translation and interpreting skills with the identities of a postgraduate at CUHK, a member of HKTS, and a keen, eager youth in Hong Kong. Opportunities come by fast, and I will take every single bit of it to level up and be greater. |
